The West Indies School of Theology (WIST) is an institution dedicated to the training and development of men and women for Christian ministry and service. Sponsored by the Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies (PAWI), WIST exists to equip believers not only for pulpit ministry but also for a wide range of supportive and subsidiary ministries within the Church and wider society.
To better serve the region, the West Indies School of Theology – Barbados Campus operates as a satellite campus for the main institution, the West Indies School of Theology Trinidad and Tobago (WISTEF). This partnership ensures that students in Barbados receive the same high standard of theological training and institutional support as those at the primary campus.
The educational experience at WIST is developed within the context of the historic and evangelical Christian faith. Our philosophy rests upon a strong theological foundation that reflects a clear commitment to evangelical theology and to the spiritual, intellectual, moral, and attitudinal values deeply rooted in the Holy Scriptures.
Our educational model is built upon three core pillars:
Spiritual Formation: We prioritize the cultivation of a deep, personal relationship with God.
Intellectual Growth: We challenge our students to engage critically with theology, history, and contemporary social issues.
Practical Preparation: Theory meets practice through hands-on ministry opportunities.
WIST is the educational arm of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the West Indies (PAWI), a respected regional body committed to advancing the Gospel throughout the Caribbean and beyond. Through its long-standing presence in the region, WIST has played a vital role in shaping pastors, leaders, missionaries, and Christian workers who serve with excellence and integrity.
The West Indies School of Theology (Barbados District) operates as a satellite campus of WIST in Trinidad and Tobago. As part of this wider institution, WIST Barbados upholds the same academic standards, theological commitments, and ministry-focused approach while providing accessible, local training for students within Barbados.

We affirm that the God revealed in Holy Scripture is the triune, sovereign Lord — Creator and Sustainer of all life. Every aspect of our teaching flows from this foundational truth.
We believe that God has revealed Himself through His Word and supremely through His Son, Jesus Christ. Our studies are anchored in Scripture and centred on the life and work of Christ.
We uphold that all truth originates with God. Students are encouraged to pursue understanding diligently, knowing that genuine learning leads to transformation and ultimately brings glory to God.
We affirm that Christian faith and analytical thought are not in conflict. Rather, they strengthen one another. We cultivate disciplined thinking that deepens faith and produces a coherent, biblically informed worldview.
Our curriculum reflects our Pentecostal foundation, integrating Biblical Studies, Theology, Evangelism, and related disciplines to ensure students are spiritually grounded and ministry-ready.
We are preparing students not only for pulpit ministry but also for supportive and leadership roles within the Church and society. Our courses equips believers to serve with competence, character, and conviction.
We believe that effective ministry requires:
To raise a generation of spiritually mature, theologically grounded, and ministry-ready leaders who will positively impact churches, communities, and nations for Christ.
To educate, equip, and empower men and women for Christian ministry and service through biblically grounded, academically sound, and practically relevant theological training.
